Rev. Prof. Gerishon M. Kirika.

Brief Autobiography:

Rev. Prof. Gerishon Kirika started his theological training at St. Paul’s United theological College (now St. Paul’s University) in 1969. Later in January 1971 he proceeded to the USA where he continued with university and further theological studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. He returned to Kenya in 1980 and was posted by the PCEA to the old Rift Valley Presbytery – extending from Uplands to Western Kenya. His station was the old Nakuru Parish. In 1982 Gerishon was seconded to Kenyatta University College as lecturer and a University Chaplain. That year he also joined St. Andrews Church as an Associate minister and assistant to Very Rev. Dr. G. Wanjau and Dr. Timothy Njoya.

Gerishon has remained an Associate Minister here at St. Andrews since the time he first joined this congregation. For a long period – starting in the early 1990s he was in charge of Ministry of Counseling while at the same time continuing his lecturing duties at Kenyatta University. He has worked with various parish ministers who have been posted to St. Andrews since the late 1980s. He was the founding Moderator of the Old Ngong Hills Presbytery which was established in 1995.

Currently Rev. Prof. Kirika teaches at the Presbyterian University in Kikuyu. At the same he continues to assist the parochial ministers here at St. Andrews. His main interest in pastoral ministry is Clinical Pastoral Education, that is, wholistic counseling for all different age groups of people

Gerishon is married to Rosalind Wanjugu Kirika – a choir member at St. Andrews. They have two children – Nahashon Kirika & Tabitha Wanjuku Kirika. Thabitha enjoys singing in Youth Choir, while Nahashon loves helping the younger children in Sunday school classes.
